Elderly and sick: Out of sight, out of mind

someone else posted something a similar experience, this is one i had regarding my mom.my mom died last year.

she had been in failing health for years, but the last 2 year were pretty rough for her, with lots of visits to the hospital.

the last 4 months, it was the hospital, a skilled nursing facility/rehab unit, and finally, a nursing home.

Elfdalian - a minority language spoken in Sweden

just found an interesting little video (älvdalska förklarad = 'elfdalian explained').. elfdalian is a separate language spoken in dalarna, sweden by a few thousand people.. in swedish, the letter w is rarely used, and when it is it is pronounced as v. but elfdalian has w and it's pronounced just like english w. so, 'white' is vit in swedish, but wait in elfdalian, pronounced like english white.. elfdalian also has the letter ð, ð, which features not in swedish but in icelandic and faeroese.

Bible study

i used to attend the meetings and was baptized about 30 years ago but i haven't gone to the meetings or associated with any one i new from the congregation for around 15 - 20 years.

i want to get back to studying but i am not ready to go to any meetings.

other than the watchtower and awake what book is used these days for people just starting to study with jehovah's witnesses?.

hi friends, i have not been on this board in awhile, and i would like to get some thoughts from some of you.

i have noticed a change within my 4 siblings in approximately the last year and a half to 2 years regarding their communication with my mother and i. they have either phoned us, texted, emailed, or written a letter or card to us.

the conversation has been good, and on any topic that comes to mind.

It is probably mostly they tired of and see the bs. Covid did us all a favor with curtailed service and no frantic getting ready for meetings.

Remember; "thinkingest people" will question why the scriptural things like beard prohibition suddenly changed

before i went i had it in my mind this was going to be a different experience.

tbh i’ve had an interest in super hero socks.

I'm facing that situation in the near future. Being on ignore suits me but wife needs attention.

I had slim hopes the "total ministry" change would make a few visits, but no. The memorial services are given low priority so waiting a month or 2 us normal. Getting 10 minutes on the person is more than usual then the Sunday talk portion. The reception seems to be the draw because ALL witnesses crave a party.

A semi private remembrance is my plan.

Radical shake up

imagine if all the governing body resigned and a new set of brothers came in and said we are very very sorry for all those who have been disfellowshipped and disassociated over the years.

we know many mistakes have been made.

we are really genuinely sorry to all those who have been hurt and especially those who have died and been hurt by these mistakes.

Won't happen and wouldn't work. The thing with disfellowshipping is it can be a frivolous charge, but at other times the wrong doing is something the congregation (and oublic) needs protected from. The details and implementstion are screwy as is the inconsistency

The hope is ill founded. Based on broken dogma, broken promises, and made up stories

I hope to win the lotto. It actually exists and the stories if winners are not made up. Contrast to "witness" stories of resurrection, medical doctor evidence and the bs the WT pushes
